Trust us — we know things are very complicated right now. We recognize how challenging it has been the last couple of years, and we completely get it. We put together this list that summarizes what we’re noticing as we collaborate with educators in multiple school districts.
We recognize how challenging it has been:
1.) Returning to school in person with so much uncertainty.
2.) Not knowing if school will be in person or virtual from one day to the next.
3.) Managing changing and sometimes confusing guidelines.
4.) Communicating shifting policies to ML parents.
5.) Finding sub coverage for your classes that include MLs.
6.) Covering for others’ classes but still having sufficient time to prepare lessons that effectively engage MLs.
7.) Ensuring MLs get the targeted academic and social-emotional instruction they need while maintaining Covid protocols.
8.) Monitoring and enforcing health and safety measures including mask wearing and social distancing.
9.) Finding a work and home life balance in a state of flux.
10.) Acknowledging the rewards of teaching MLs amid all the challenges.
What’s been most challenging for you in supporting MLs this year? We’d like to hear from you.
