Deena Marshall, MA, is an Multilingual Learner (ML) Coach with SupportEd. Deena is a dedicated educator with 18 years of experience advocating for multilingual learners, including extensive leadership and teaching experience in public charter schools. Her passion lies in helping schools and teachers effectively serve their ML students.

As Director of Multilingual Learning at a DC public charter school, Deena led the programming and instructional support for over 400 ML students in grades PreK-12. Prior to that, she served as an ML teacher and instructional coach in Washington, DC, for eight years. Deena holds a master’s degree in teaching ESOL from American University and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Michigan.

Deena’s expertise lies in various areas of ML education, including literacy and language development in content area classrooms, program compliance, assessment management, supporting dually identified students, serving newcomers and families, and more. Deena’s career reflects her unwavering dedication to ML education, and she cherishes her role as an advocate and champion for ML students.
