Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses and programs offer opportunities for MLs to meet their educational and career goals. The Action Plan for Building MLs’ Capacity in CTE Programs is an excellent tool to support districts and schools in improving CTE programming for their MLs.
Considerations
This tool will be most effective if it is used collaboratively by key stakeholders, such as district leaders, administrators, teachers, and other school staff, to assess how the system is currently supporting MLs’ access to and engagement in CTE. The team can then use the information to plan actions they can take to make improvements.
How It Works
Use the action planning document to reflect on the urgency around being inclusive of MLs in CTE programs, strategies for recruiting and retaining MLs in CTE programs, and instructional strategies to ensure MLs are engaged with CTE content. Use the guiding questions to take notes on how your current programs and structures support MLs in CTE and where there are areas for improvement.
